Reminders From The Principal

  P.S. 212 Principal’s Message

Dear Families,

Happy New Year! It is our mission to provide Excellence and Equity for Every Student! We thank you for your partnership in helping us achieve this.

We know each student is an individual, bringing unique talents and needs to school every day. We pride ourselves on the opportunities that we have available to help each and every child succeed. These opportunities are included in our academic programming, which ensures each child is challenged appropriately while building a foundation of knowledge and skills. It is also reflected in our many enrichment clubs and student led committees. I will be hosting a Parent Breakfast with the Principal on January 24th. It is hybrid meeting on zoom and in person (link was sent home on the flyer). All families are welcome to attend including our 5th grade parents, who may want to learn more about Senior Activities and dues.

We are pleased to announce that Elizabeth Fontana has joined our team as an interim acting, Assistant Principal. Ms Fontana has over 15 years of experience working as a classroom teacher, ENL teacher, and an administrative intern at PS 97K. She is very excited to meet our community!

On January 21, 2023 we begin our Saturday Academy. If your child is selected to participate in this program you will receive a notice by 1/12. Doors open at 8:20 am – please do not arrive early.

Recently, we have had a large number of students arriving late. Please arrive by 8 am. When students are late they are missing phonics, grammar and vocabulary. These minutes add up. Please do your best to arrive on time so we can make the most of learning time. Doors close promptly at 8:10 am.

On February 17th we celebrate a 100 days of learning with a fun-filled day of activities. During Respect for All Week on Monday, February 13 to Friday, February 17, 2023, schools across the city will have the opportunity to highlight and build upon ongoing programs to help students, staff and communities gain a better understanding of diversity. Lunar New Year begins on Sunday, January 22, 2023. This year is the year of the rabbit. There is an emphasis on family and friends and it is time to reconnect and celebrate relationships with others. We wish all families who celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year a wonderful day!
